1. North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh, North Carolina

This October the state fair is bigger and better than ever before. Soar over the grounds on the SkyLift and get a great look at all that’s offered. Visit the 60-plus sellers of art, furniture, clothing, jewelry, pottery, condiments, and jams and jellies. This year’s festivities are free, but donations are appreciated. 3. Lee Regional Fair in Sanford, North Carolina

The 79th annual edition of this event runs September 13 through 18. Kids will love the Agri-Puppets’ live show of singing, bubbles, and answering questions. These loveable characters teach how crucial farming, agriculture, and livestock are. Meet Dakota and Friends Dinosaurs during an interactive show on Sunday. If you like adventure, the Demolition Derby or Mud Bogging provide amusement for those who like to keep their adrenaline pumping. Gold and Silver medalist Lisa Dufresne performs Horses Horses Horses!! Her crew of 14 horses is highly trained and delight diverse audiences as they waltz, walk on two legs, bow, and more.

4. Mountain State Fair in Fletcher, North Carolina

Every evening from September 9 through 18 enjoy the live entertainment lineup. From cloggers to bands, you can’t miss out on the opportunity to witness such amazing local talent. See the website for special offers and discount tickets. Shoppers haste to take in the 45,000 square feet of the Chevrolet Event Center filled with venders and exhibits. Hands-on animal exhibits like the Mooternity Ward, the birthing center for calves, and The Barnyard, where animals are on display, allow even city slickers to get a feel for the country life. The Livestock Competition is also an integral part of the fair.
