2016 Nissan Murano
Whether you choose the base-model Murano or spring for a higher trim and some add-on packages, you will be impressed by the luxury you find. Everything from driver assistance technology to premium comfort features has been added for one of the best driving experiences offered by an SUV.
Exterior
The 2016 Nissan Murano comes in four trim levels: the S ($29,660 MSRP), the SV ($32,720 MSRP), the SL ($37,050 MSRP), and the Platinum ($39,100 MSRP). Differences between the first three trims are minimal. All feature 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels with P235/65R18 all-season tires. The Platinum upgrades those to 20-inch wheels and P235/55R20 tires. Both the SL and Platinum switch out the standard black roof rails for silver ones and add a power liftgate and heated outside mirrors. A power panoramic moonroof is available for the S and above, while rear privacy glass comes standard on all models.
Power
All four trim levels feature a 3.5L DOHC 24-valve V6 engine that is capable of 260 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque. Paired with this engine is an Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) and a 19-gallon fuel tank.
Performance
Although front-wheel drive comes standard, intuitive all-wheel drive is available on every trim. No matter which trim you choose, you can expect to get 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Impressively, these numbers even hold true for all-wheel-drive models. The 2016 Murano also boasts a towing capacity of 1,500 lbs.Other standard performance-enhancing features include Brake Assist, speed-sensitive power steering, and hill start assist. An independent strut front suspension and multi-link independent rear suspension, along with front and rear stabilizer bars, complete the design.
Interior
Every 2016 Murano comes with some impressive interior features, including an Advanced Drive-Assist Display, NissanConnect with mobile apps, a hands-free text messaging assistant, cruise control, and the Bluetooth hands-free phone system. Nissan Intelligent Key with push-button ignition, remote front windows down, and (in the SV and above) remote start with intelligent climate control come standard. You can also expect dual zone automatic temperature control, cruise control, eight cargo tie-down hooks, and three 12-volt DC power outlets. The SV and above include NissanConnect navigation, an 8-inch multi-touch control monitor, speed-sensitive volume control, and SiriusXm Traffic and Travel Link. Opt for the Platinum for climate controlled front seats, a heated steering wheel, and power return rear seatbacks. Every Murano seats five, with 32.1 cubic feet of cargo volume when the rear seats are up (slightly less if you add a moonroof).
Safety Features
A rearview camera comes standard on every 2016 Murano. To this, the SL and Platinum add an Around View camera, Driver Attention Alert, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Moving Object Detection. Predictive Forward Collision Warning and Forward Emergency Braking can also be added.Other standard features include the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), traction control, Active Brake Limited Slip, hood buckling creases, and both front and rear crumple zones. Murano drivers will benefit from a knee airbag and an energy-absorbing steering column.
