2016-Nissan-JukeThe Nissan Juke is a delightfully odd vehicle and certainly a standout in the crowded crossover market. It not only has a unique look, it’s also more powerful under the hood and in the suspension than a lot of its more conventional competitors. One quirky idea that Nissan put forward with the Juke is the Color Studio, which allows drivers to custom paint their cars. This is where the design philosophy of the 2016 Juke Stinger Edition came from. Let’s take a look at what makes the Stinger, and the Juke as a whole, special.

The Juke at a Glance

All trim levels of the Juke come standard with amenities like keyless ignition and entry, cruise control, height-adjustable driver seat, and 60/40-split folding rear seats. Interior tech includes a trip computer, Bluetooth connectivity, a six-speaker sound system with a five-inch color monitor, Siri Eye Free, CD player, a USB interface and a hands-free texting assistant. Almost all of these features can be upgraded at higher trim levels.

Under the hood the Juke has a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder engine capable of 188 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, or with the Nismo RS upgrade 215 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque. The Juke also gets a very impressive 30 MPG combined, which is among the best in the crossover category.

Special Accents

The Stinger Edition gets its name from the bold bee-like color scheme that came out of the Color Studio. The two versions are either a bright Solar Yellow with black accents, or Super Black with yellow accents. These accents appear on the side mirrors, door handles, rear spoiler, and front and rear bumpers. Both versions also come with 17-inch black alloy wheels.

Going inside, the Juke Stinger has a distinctive console that’s reminiscent of a motorcycle layout. Additional color accents are in the black cloth seats, the shift knob, and the door panels and air vents. There’s also a subtle pattern of yellow stitching in the sporty steering wheel.

Color Studio Options

For true accent devotees, the Nissan Color Studio lets drivers further adorn the Stinger with coordinated optional pieces. This includes extra color for the side door sills and lower hatch, a hatch handle finisher, and bright trim rings for the headlights. Special color-trimmed floor mats with the Juke name are also available.

Beyond the Stinger

The Juke Stinger Edition is a great showcase for all of the customization available for Nissan’s quirky crossover. For those who have a different favorite hue, the Color Studio offers nine different color accents, including two different shades of red (Cayenne and Red Alert), an appropriately wine-colored Bordeaux Black, Cosmic Blue, and the extra-elegant Pearl White.

It may be a bit on the weird side, but the unique color options for the 2016 Nissan Juke make it one of the most recognizable cars on the market, and it’s not as if the Juke lacked personality before. The two limited edition Stinger styles show drivers what the Color Studio can do. It also helps that the car underneath all the pizzaz is a solid piece of performance machinery.
