The Nissan Titan and the Titan XD, Which One is Right For You?Do you need a reliable, but good-looking pick-up truck for your everyday activities? Nissan is known for making some of the best pickups on the market, and you definitely need to check out the Nissan Titan and Titan XD if you’re thinking of buying a new truck. They both look amazing and are sturdy cars, but there a few substantial differences between the two models. Let’s take a look at the two models and see what each has to offer.

Payload and Towing Capacity

Payload and towing capacity differ between the two models, so you need to understand how much you’re going to use your pickup for towing and carrying loads before choosing one or the other. While the Nissan Titan can tow up to 9,390 pounds, of course with the right equipment, its bigger brother Titan XD manages to deal with a maximum load of 12,640 pounds. When it comes to carrying loads, the Titan XD can handle 2,910 pounds as a maximum payload if you opt for the 5.6-liter V8 gas engine version, while the lighter-duty Titan handles 1,940 pounds.

Size and Weight

The Nissan Titan is among the lightest pickups on the market, weighing only 5,508 pounds, while the Titan XD weighs more going up to 6,710 pounds. Most pickup manufacturers are doing what they can to cut down weight, while Nissan was not afraid to put some extra pounds on its Titan XD model. The heavy-duty components that make sure that the car is sturdy enough for any situation are responsible for this additional weight. The steel frame destined to support the entire pickup is thicker, the axles are also bigger, and even the brakes were enhanced to 14.37-inch rotors.

The Titan XD model is also about a foot longer than the Titan. But does size really matter? Again, it depends on what type of truck you consider suitable for your daily activities and lifestyle.

Under the Hood and Safety Features

Both models pack powerful engines. While the Titan features a 390-hp Endurance® V8 engine with 7-speed automatic transmission, the Titan XD goes further with a choice between the regular V8 engine and the Cummins® 5.0-liter DOHC 32-valve V8 Turbo Diesel engine that creates 310 hp and an incredible 555 lb-ft of torque.

Both models include great safety features such as anti-lock disc brakes, front side airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags as standard for all trims. More advanced trims receive extra features such as front and rear parking sensors, a blind-spot monitor, and a rearview camera. There is all you need to ensure the whole family is as safe as possible in the unfortunate case of an accident.

To sum it up, the Titan XD is the truck you need if you’re looking to do heavy-duty work, while the standard Titan, being slightly smaller and lighter, works best as a domestic pickup. Both are great choices; it’s just a matter of deciding which option works best for you.
