All About the 2017 Nissan Titan XD Platinum Reserve in Charlotte, NCYears ago, Nissan conducted a survey and found that a lot of pickup truck owners were dissatisfied with their options. Half-ton pickup owners often find themselves pushing the limits of their truck’s capacities. Three-quarter-ton trucks often have more than they need, which means owners pay too much on monthly payments and extra fuel. That’s why Nissan created the Titan XD, a truck that splits the difference and offers a “just right” size for truck buyers who need it. For the 2017 model, the top trim is the Platinum Reserve, and it comes with plenty of great features.

1. Two Engine Options

Like most heavy-duty trucks but few half-ton models, the 2017 Titan XD offers both a gasoline and a diesel engine option. The gas engine is a 5.6-liter V8, and it comes with 390 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque. With the right configuration, this engine lets the Titan XD carry up to 2,910 pounds in the truck bed.

The other option is a Cummins 5.0-liter V8 turbo diesel. With one of those under the hood, the Titan XD delivers 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque. When you put the engine in the right truck configuration and install the Convenience and Utility Package, the XD tows up to 12,640 pounds. This includes using a gooseneck hitch, which is something you can’t find on lighter models.

2. Premium Interior Materials

As the most expensive trim available, the 2017 Titan XD Platinum Reserve comes with a luxurious interior. The seats are instantly recognizable with two-tone leather and Platinum Reserve logos, and the trim on the doors and dashboard use open pore wood tones and dark chrome. The front seats do more than look pretty thanks to heating and cooling elements, and the back seats are also heated.

3. Trailer Features

The 2017 Titan XD offers more than just a class IV tow hitch receiver and an available goosehead hitch when it comes to trailer convenience. If the trailer has its own brakes, you can adjust or activate them thanks to a brake controller built right into the center console.

A trailer sway control system lets the Titan XD compensate for crosswind automatically, but the best new innovation is the trailer light check. By using the Nissan Intelligent Key that comes standard on the Platinum Reserve trim, you can cycle through the truck’s lights to see if the trailer brake lights are working, and you won’t need someone else to spot for you.

With the Titan XD, Nissan has created a new class of truck, one that sits between the half-ton light-duty models and the three-quarter-ton heavy-duty pickups. So if you aren’t satisfied with the extra costs of a big truck but you need more power and capacity than what a half-ton has to offer, consider the XD if you want one of the most luxurious interiors in a full-size truck today. Give the 2017 Titan XD Platinum Reserve a look and find out what you’ve been missing.
