The Bank of America Stadium

Located in Uptown, the Bank of America Stadium kicked off its inaugural season in 1996 as the home of the Carolina Panthers. Seating over 75,000, it’s an open stadium with natural grass on its playing field. It contains training facilities, administrative offices, and practice fields. Even if you’re not a football fanatic, this stadium is a sight to see based on architecture alone. Arches and towers at the entrance match the team’s hues of black, silver, and blue. The interior hosts numerous concession stands, wide seats, and top-notch acoustics.

Billy Graham Library

This free library hosts an interactive walk through the life of America’s Preacher. Tour his reconstructed boyhood home fashioned from 80 percent of the original materials, or reflect in the Memorial Prayer Garden. An exhibit highlighting the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association runs from July 1 through October 31. View a cross created from 9/11 debris and other newly-released memorabilia that demonstrates the compassion shown by the organization.

Discovery Place

This venue provides three different locations where you can learn about science. Discovery Place caters to all ages with current exhibits on the Rubik’s Cube, Fantastic Frogs, and living animals and their habitats. The Charlotte Nature Museum features Fort Wild, an outdoor exploration area built for young children that includes balancing logs and sand for toddlers, a Fairy Stump Village for preschoolers, and a space for playing instruments and planting seeds. Discovery Place for Kids reminds youngsters what they’re capable of with theme areas for creating, moving, growing, exploring underwater, and more.

The Mint Museum

Art connoisseurs and newcomers alike flock to this historical building that opened in 1936 as North Carolina’s original art museum. The collection grew so dramatically that it expanded to a second location boasting 145,000 square feet of exhibition space. Exhibits include displays of the Mint’s permanent collection, while Here & Now encompasses 215 photographs from the last 80 years and runs from April 16 to September 18. Pumped, available for viewing May 7 through August 28, displays the art of shoemaking from the 1700s to 2015.

The Nascar Hall of Fame

Racing fans will jump at the opportunity to step foot in the Nascar Hall of Fame for only $19.95 per ticket. The Heritage Speedway showcases upwards of 200 artifacts that depict Nascar’s rich history. For those interested in a behind-the-scenes look at the weekly races, don’t miss out on Race Week. The Hall of Honor represents sacred ground where inductees are revered. Any true fan won’t pass up the opportunity to enjoy a simulator ride, which comes with lunch and a lanyard, for only $7 in addition to the admission price.
