5 Tips to Help Organize Your NissanBefore you even start to think about how to organize your car, know that the first step is getting it clean. Take a Saturday afternoon to remove all the trash and odds and ends from your car and put them away. Then either clean your car, vacuum the carpet, wipe down the seats and wash the outside, or take it to a car wash that details the inside and outside.

1. Have a Portable Trash Can

One of the simplest way to keep your car clean is to have a place where your trash goes. Consider an old, plastic cereal container that has a snapping lid. Whatever container you choose, make sure to put a plastic bag to line the inside, that it seals and is easily portable so cleaning out is simple. Each time you stop at the gas station, empty your trashcan and any other garbage you find in the car.

2. Get an Organizer

There are many options when it comes to car organizers. You can have an organizer on the visor, one that hangs off the back of the seat, or one for inside any compartments. This becomes especially important if you have kids. Each time you arrive home, have your kids put their stuff away or carry it inside. A great way to keep your glove compartment organized is by placing all your important papers in a sectioned paper organizer. If you’re not ready to invest in an organizer, an old shower caddy or hanging shoe rack can fit the bill at a low cost.

3. Put a Purse Organizer in the Console

So often the console is where we toss things we know we’ll need, but then it gets so full we can’t find anything. Consider buying a small purse organizer or something similar that will fit in your console and keep all the necessaries handy. Think about keeping some spare items in your car, such as pens, a sharpie, scissors, spare lip balm, any other beauty products you might need on the go, a phone charger, and a flashlight.

4. Create an Emergency Kit

Everyone should have a small emergency kit, but this is especially useful if you have kids. Your emergency kit should contain a small first-aid kit, bottles of water, an extra pair of shoes, a sweater, sunscreen, bug spray, a granola bar that won’t spoil, and other items that might be useful to you or your family in a pinch.

5. Set a Cleaning Schedule

Car dirt can easily creep up on you, so establish a cleaning schedule. Remove trash once a week and clean the inside once a month. Try using a coffee filter for removing dust from your dashboard and other places throughout the car. Every two to three months, take the car to the car wash to have it detailed.

When trying to keep your car clean, especially with children, one of the easiest and best steps you can take is to try and keep up with the mess. Each time you leave the car, take some trash or other items with you. This will reduce the mess quickly and keep it down over time.
