5 Fun Places to Bring the Kids to See the Animals this Summer.Children love animals — that’s a fact. If you want to keep your young ones entertained this summer, taking them to see animals and learn about wildlife is a great idea for spending quality time together. Luckily, in the Charlotte area, there are numerous places where your kids can interact with a wide range of animals. Here are our favorite spots for seeing the animals around Charlotte, North Carolina.

North Carolina Zoo

Located in Asheboro, the North Carolina Zoo is the largest natural habitat zoo in the entire world with more than five miles of shaded pathways. With over 1,600 animals in their natural habitat, you can easily spend a whole day here with the family. Expect to meet lions, chimpanzees, gorillas, polar bears, elephants, and zebras just to name a few. Start with a safari in the African region, cool off at the aviary that hosts 3,000 species of plants and birds, and finish your visit with a tour of the North America region.

Lazy 5 Ranch

Don’t expect a regular ranch — here, your kids will have the chance to see a wide range of wild and exotic animals which include zebras, bison, giraffes, emus, and others. The bravest kids can even feed them witht the help of the ranch’s caregivers.  Just remember to bring cash with you because the ranch doesn’t accept debit or credit cards.

Tiger World

Located in Rockwell, Tiger World is a sanctuary for endangered species from all over the world. Most of the animals you can see here are rescued specimens from all sorts of hostile environments. Although it’s named Tiger World, the sanctuary also hosts bears, wolves, monkeys, birds, and various other animals that need a sanctuary, along with other felines such as leopards, lynx, cougars, and a lion.

Carolina Raptor Center

Birds of prey are such beautiful creatures, and this particular center has quite a few of them. Located in Huntersville, the center features the beautiful Raptor Trail, which is a walkway where you will see and learn more about various raptors such as owls, vultures, and others. It’s a great occasion to learn more about how these majestic birds are being rehabilitated. Also, on Saturdays and Sundays, adults and kids have the opportunity to meet and greet the raptors.

SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord Aquarium

Sea creatures are just as fascinating, if not even more, as land creatures, so make sure you visit the SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord Aquarium. Hosting approximately 250 species of aquatic animals, a visit to this aquarium guarantees fun times for your kids. Also, there are ten interactive areas that will capture the interest and attention of your young ones, so the day will certainly turn into a successful one.

A day trip to the zoo or other animal parks is a fun idea for the entire family, so this summer make sure to put these places on your list of things to do in Charlotte with the people you love.
