The 2016 Nissan Rogue comes in three trim levels: the S ($23,290 MSRP), the SV ($24,740 MSRP), and the SL ($28,690 MSRP). Stylistic differences between the three are minimal, but which trim you choose does have some effect on the exterior features. For instance, fog lights, a power liftgate, and heated power mirrors with LED turn signal indicators are standard on the SL, optional on the SV, and not available at all on the S. Roof rails and rear privacy class can be added to the S, but comes standard on higher trim levels.

Every 2016 Rogue comes equipped with a 2.5L DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine with a continuously variable valve timing control system (CVTCS) on intake and exhaust valves. The engine benefits from the Nissan Direct Ignition System and an Eco Mode, and it is capable of 170 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. An Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) also comes standard.

No matter which trim you choose, you can expect great fuel economy: 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. Front-wheel drive comes standard, but intuitive all-wheel drive can be added to any trim. Other standard features include Nissan's Active Ride Control, Active Engine Braking, Active Trace Control, and Brake Assist, as well as hill start assist and speed-sensitive electric power steering. Hill descent control can be added to all-wheel drive models.

Interior features of the Nissan Rogue center around the Advanced Drive-Assist Display that comes standard in all models. The Bluetooth hands-free phone system, a hands-free text messaging assistant, in-cabin microfilter, and cruise control also come standard. You have to upgrade to the SV or SL to benefit from NissanConnect; the SV includes mobile apps only while the SL adds navigation, a 7-inch touchscreen display, and voice recognition. Entertainment features get considerably better as you move up the hierarchy, with the SL boasting a nine-speaker Bose audio system, Siri Eyes Free, and speed-sensitive volume controls.When it comes to storage and space, the Rogue has plenty to offer. Its 9.4-cubic-foot cargo area is equipped with four tie-down hooks and a Divide-N-Hide cargo system (with the Family Package). Two rows with a total of five seats is the standard setup, but the Rogue can seat 7 people across three rows when equipped with the Family Package. Cargo space increases to 39.3 cubic feet with the third row down and 70 cubic feet with both rows folded.

Standard safety features include a rearview camera, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VCD), traction control, and the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System. An Around View camera can be added to any model, while Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Forward Emergency Braking, and Moving Object Detection are only available on higher trims.
